About Paul Cooke

Triple Platinum Recording Artist Paul Cooke aka Paul Anthony Cook of Sade fame. Some people refer to Paul as a legend after he formed the Band Sade in 1982 with two fellow musicians from his home town of Hull in the North of England Paul Denman and Stuart Mathewman. Involved in the music industry since he was 16 years old and playing the drums from age 13, Paul moved to London when he was 17 years old with his band the Posers from Hull to get involved in the London music scene. Paul then hooked up with Stuart Mathewman in 1982 and went onto form the group Sade with him inviting Paul Denman along for the ride. Paul worked on the first Sade music for over two years shaping the arrangements and drum parts helping create the famous sound and rhythm section wit his co-worker Paul Denman, Paul played the songs live around the world to promote the Sade project in the USA and Europe. The album Diamond Life was released by CBS Records in 1984 and Paul realised his dream of playing on Top of The Pops in mid 1984 of the same year with his band Sade. The product and Paul’s work has since gone on to earn CBS & Sony over 10 million pounds since its inception. Further to leaving the band in early 1984 after falling out with the Nigerian singer Helen Folasade Adu, Paul formed his own 13 piece Latin Jazz group Esposito, and self managed and signed the project to Zarjazz (Madness) at Virgin Records – Paul produced the music with his old friend Mark Bedford the bass player in the group Madness. Paul went onto sing back up for Madness’s Hit single ‘Uncle Sam’​ among others, and worked with Earth Wind and Fire’s backing singers in the studio on his bands first single. Mark Bedord also acted as musical director for Paul’s biggest performance to date with his band ‘Esposito’ at the Albert hall in the late eighties. Further to this in the 1990’s Paul was signed to the TIME recording label in Nottingham producing experimental dance music using 3D mixing techniques. ‘Lost At Sea’​ a track written and produced by Paul featured on the album EMIT 2295. The album was released in the USA on EMIT 2000 via Instinct Records. This recording has gone onto be a cult classic in the Electronica genre. Paul also managed and was also the Executive Producer for Rolan Bolan in the UK in 2004 and negotiated all his deals in the UK working closely with Seth Freidman the Black Eyed Peas” Manager. Paul currently owns Diamond Life Records, Paul Cooke Music (ASCAP), and Diamond Life Publishing (books).  Paul has recently worked closely with the famous music producer and song writer Peter Rafleson and Rafleson Records in Hollywood. Peter was responsible for Madonna’s early hits and currently is a sought after mixer for some of the largest acts in the USA such as Lady Gaga, and Beyonce.
